Keep this handy on moving day

A checklist you can tick off.

Your ticks are not stored. Print the list if you want to keep it.

Once you know your moving date

Confirm when you can access both homes. Make an inventory, request a quote and discuss parking and lift use. Include heavy furniture, extra addresses, packing and disassembly from the start. Keep confirmed arrangements together.

While packing

Separate what moves, stays and needs removing. Pack by room, label boxes and empty cupboards. Keep fittings for each piece of furniture in a labelled bag. Set aside important documents, jewellery and money to carry yourself.

Before moving day

Prepare appliances according to their manuals. Check keys, codes and the agreed loading space. Pack daily essentials, chargers and clean bedding separately. Report any changes to the load or access.

During loading and unloading

Point out what stays and where furniture goes at the destination. Keep doors and passages clear. After loading, check rooms, built-in cupboards and storage. After unloading, review whether the agreed items are in place.

After the move

Keep transit bolts and assembly instructions. Follow appliance instructions before using them again. Arrange your address change with the municipality and relevant organisations. Separately check the handover requirements for your former home.
